Biomass Feedstock Intake Criteria & Assay Standards
Physical, thermodynamic, and chemical acceptance standards for downdraft pyrolytic gasification in Agra Dot Energy microgrids.
Physical & Caloric Baseline Parameters
All feedstock submitted for the Turnkey Biomass Feasibility Study ($15k–$50k) is evaluated via laboratory bomb calorimeter testing under ASTM D5865 standards:
| Parameter | Target Specification | Maximum Tolerable Limit | Operational Impact |
|---|---|---|---|
| Moisture Content (MC) | 10% – 18% Bone-Dry | ≤ 30% (Requires Pre-Dryer) | Excess moisture lowers syngas thermal caloric density and cools pyrolytic core. |
| Particle Sizing | 0.25″ to 2.5″ Wood Chip | Fines (< 2mm) ≤ 5% | Uniform bridging in fixed-bed downdraft reactors prevents pressure drops. |
| Caloric Density (HHV) | ≥ 8,000 BTU / lb | ≥ 7,000 BTU / lb Floor | Determines continuous kW generation capacity per dry ton. |
| Ash & Mineral Content | < 2.0% (Clean Wood/Hemp) | ≤ 6.0% (Ag Residues) | High silica/ash content accelerates clinker formation and grate maintenance. |
| Contaminant Floor | 0.0% Non-Organics | Zero Plastic / PVC / Metal | Strict prohibition to prevent chlorinated dioxin generation and catalyst poisoning. |
Tier 1: Prime Feedstocks
- Sawmill off-cuts, slab wood, and wood chips
- Kiln-dried planar shavings and sawdust
- Hardwood forest thinning and fire-mitigation slash
- Industrial hemp hurd and biomass stalks
Tier 2: Conditional Feedstocks
- Corn stover and sorghum bagasse (requires pelletization)
- Nut shells (walnut, pecan, almond) and fruit pits
- Poultry litter mixed with wood shaving bedding
- Municipal green yard waste (screened and de-stoned)
