An Irrigation Station Workshop will take place June 6 in Georgetown. The Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service will present the event as part of the Williamson County Water Conservation Team partnership, which also includes the municipalities of Georgetown, Round Rock, Liberty Hill and Leander.
The workshop will take place from 6:30-8:30 p.m. at the AgriLife Extension office, 100 Wilco Way, Room 226, Georgetown. The event is free to attend for area residents, but preregistration is required at https://tx.ag/June6Irrigation or by calling 512-943-3300.
The workshop will provide an overview of where local water comes from and simple strategies to conserve water in the landscape.
“If you are tired of dragging around hoses or have questions about landscape irrigation, we are here to help,” said Kate Hajda, AgriLife Extension horticulturist, Williamson County. “Let us show you how to water smarter. Come to the Irrigation Station Workshop and learn how to reduce landscape irrigation through different water conservation strategies.”

Hajda is the featured speaker for the workshop. Topics covered will include:
- Maintaining and managing an irrigation system for water conservation.
- Addressing and repairing minor leaks, heads and nozzles.
- Troubleshooting valves and problems.
- Utilizing irrigation boxes and smart controllers.
- Drip irrigation.
- Irrigation scheduling.
Following the presentation, participants will have an opportunity to visit irrigation stations for demonstrations and hands-on learning.
