At Agra Energy, our mission has always been clear: to take what is considered “waste”—whether dairy effluent in America or agricultural biomass in Africa—and transform it into high-value renewable fuel.
Today, we are taking that mission to its evolutionary peak. We are proud to introduce Project Octagon, a master deployment of sovereign industrial infrastructure, executed in Joint Venture with our technology partners at DeReticular.
This is not just a project; it is a new blueprint for rural industrialization. By combining Agra Energy’s advanced Plasma Gasification technology with DeReticular’s Rural Infrastructure Operating System (RIOS), we are solving the two biggest hurdles to development in the Global South: Lack of Power and Lack of Data.
The Strategic Vision: Energy & Intelligence Pods
Project Octagon replaces the old model of “wait for the grid” with a new paradigm: Infrastructure-on-Arrival.
We are deploying integrated “Energy & Intelligence Pods” that function independently of national utility grids. This “Island Mode” capability ensures 99.9% uptime for industrial processing, creating a secure environment for high-value agriculture and manufacturing.
The Hardware Stack
- The Engine (Agra Energy): We deploy Micro-Scale Plasma Gasification units capable of processing 210 Tons Per Day (TPD) of biomass. This converts agricultural waste (specifically Industrial Hemp stalks) into 10–11 MW of clean, baseload electricity, along with renewable Syngas and Biochar.
- The Brain (DeReticular): Every energy unit is paired with a RIOS Pilot Command Center. This solar-powered, satellite-connected hub manages the energy grid, monitors crop health via IoT sensors, and processes data locally using Edge AI.
Flagship Deployment: The Kaabong Smart Eco-Industrial Park (Node 4)
The heart of Project Octagon beats in Kaabong, Uganda.[2] Here, on a 7,000-acre campus, Agra Energy Uganda is proving the commercial viability of the Circular Economy.
1. The Fuel: Industrial Hemp
Uganda’s equatorial climate allows for three harvest cycles per year. We cultivate high-yield industrial hemp not just for fiber and oil, but for Energy Density.
- Top of the Plant: Processed into high-value CBD oil and textiles for export.
- Bottom of the Plant: The stalks—often treated as waste—become the primary feedstock for our Plasma Gasification units.
2. The Output: Baseload Power & Biochar
Unlike solar (which needs batteries for night operation) or hydro (which suffers during droughts), Plasma Gasification provides 24/7 baseload power.
- Zero Waste: The process eliminates landfill use.[3]
- Soil Regeneration: A byproduct of gasification is Biochar, a carbon-rich soil amendment that we return to the farm fields to improve water retention and crop yields, closing the loop.
3. The Validation: Verifiable Green Data
This is where our partnership with DeReticular changes the game. In traditional carbon markets, “green” claims are often based on estimates. In Project Octagon, they are based on Ground Truth.
The RIOS system collects real-time data from our gasifiers and fields. Using advanced cryptography (zkVerify), we can mathematically prove our Carbon Negative status to global buyers without revealing our proprietary trade secrets. This turns our compliance data into a financial asset, unlocking premium carbon credits that subsidize the park’s expansion.
Why This Partnership Matters
For Agra Energy, DeReticular provides the “Nervous System” for our “Muscle.”
- Risk Mitigation: The RIOS Pilot Unit acts as a “Black Start” capabilities package. We can drop a unit onto a raw piece of land and have secure communications, site monitoring, and initial power within 24 hours—months before ground is even broken on the main plant.
- Operational Clarity: We monitor the efficiency of our plasma units in Uganda from our headquarters in the US, adjusting parameters in real-time to maximize output.
- Community Impact: Excess power and bandwidth are shared with the local Kaabong community, turning our industrial park into a hub for regional stability and education.
The Future Roadmap
Kaabong is just the beginning. Project Octagon includes a network of 8 global nodes, including sites in Phoenix, Arizona and Saint Paul, Minnesota, where we are stress-testing these systems in extreme heat and extreme cold.
We are building a future where energy is decentralized, waste is a resource, and infrastructure pays for itself.
